Upgrading the Software

After upgrading the hardware, i now have enough memory to upgrade the software, i shall install windows XP onto the system, this will make the system a lot better than what it is now. Allowing the system to be used by more people.

Upgrading the Hardware

Today i shall perform the simple task of replacing a computers memory ready for a new OS, i shall firstly check the workplace around the computer so i can remove any obstacles that may cause me harm, also remove any liquids that i need to, the next step i shall take is to apply an anti-static wristband, this ensures safety, i shall then remove all of the cables from the computer this is another step to ensure the safety of my work, the next step i shall take is to remove the computer case, so i can access the hardware components inside, i shall make sure i have access to all the tools that i may need, such as a screwdriver, i shall now remove all of the hardware components within the computer so i can access the memory. Now i shall remove the old memory and replace with the new, then it is a simple step of returning everything back to its place, returning the computer case, and finally plugging all cables back into the computer... This was the first step of replacing the OS.

Software and Hardware Upgrades

I have recently performed a check on a computer, i found that this computer was still using an old OS (operating System), this is a computer that is need of an upgrade to a new and better OS, i believe that upgrading to XP is a good choice for the computer it shall amke the computer a lot more usable, the computer needs its memory upgrading so that the OS can be installed, this is my first step to be completed...

Observed

25th January
Today i observed a fellow student try and distingush what was wrong with a computer, he took off the top and found the computer had no HD, he then replaced it and still the computer would not work, we then noticed that the computer switch was not working at all so we had to finish there.

January 11th
Today we removed all of the hardaware from the computer this involved removing the motherboard, the RAM everything was completely removed.

Linux

January 18th
Today we had to install linux onto a computer as the computer we had, had no operating system on therefore we installed it. And after we had succesfully installed the system the computer then worked perfectly.
